TROUBLESHOOTING FOR REXTON HEARING AIDS

Why won’t my hearing aid turn on?

Start with these quick steps:

  • Restart your hearing aid. For rechargeable models, place it in the charger for 5 seconds and remove it. For battery-powered devices, open and close the battery door to restart.
  • Listen for a startup sound to confirm it’s turning on.
  • Check battery status in the app. If using disposable batteries, try a fresh one from a different pack.

Rexton hearing aids have a wax guard near the speaker to help prevent wax buildup. If it looks blocked, replace it, or follow your hearing care provider’s recommendation. Also, check if your ears are clear of wax. Your provider can inspect your ear canals and remove any obstruction affecting sound output.

The microphone openings may be clogged, which can block incoming sound. Use a cleaning brush to gently clear the tiny slits near the buttons or battery door. This helps restore proper sound pickup.
Try replacing the battery and check the orientation. For rechargeable models, make sure the charger LEDs light up when charging starts. If not, clean the charging contacts (the gold dots) with a dry, soft cloth. If you're using a portable charger, plug it into a wall outlet before inserting the hearing aids to trigger charging.

There could be an issue with the hearing aid’s hardware or with the accessories, such as the receiver. Consult your hearing care provider for further assistance.

This is likely a Bluetooth connection problem. Visit the Connectivity & Pairing section for help unpairing and reconnecting your hearing aids to your smartphone.

What should I do if the sound from my hearing aid is distorted?

Start with these quick steps:

  • Turn the volume down
  • Place the hearing aid in a dehumidifier overnight
  • Clean or replace the ear piece, such as the dome or receiver
Lower the volume either directly on the hearing aid or through the Rexton app. Excessive volume, especially in loud settings, can cause sound distortion.
Insert a new battery or fully recharge your hearing aid. Weak battery power can affect audio performance.
Make sure the ear piece is clean. If needed, replace any clogged parts like domes or wax filters.
If distortion continues after cleaning and adjusting, your hearing care professional can check for internal damage or recalibration needs.

The hearing aid is making a whistling sound

Clean the ear piece and check the wax guard. If needed, replace them to make sure nothing is obstructing the sound path.

Turn the volume down slightly. When the amplification is too strong, it can cause feedback loops within the device.

Take out the hearing aid or ear piece and place it back in so it fits snugly in your ear. If it’s not inserted properly, sound can escape and be picked up again by the microphone, causing a whistling noise known as feedback.

Why isn’t my hearing aid charging?

Make sure the charger is firmly plugged into a working outlet. Try another power socket to rule out any connection issue.

Remove the hearing aid and place it back in the charger. Look for the indicator light to confirm it’s charging. The contacts should align and hold the hearing aid in place.

Use a soft, dry cloth to gently clean the metal contacts on the hearing aid. This helps ensure a proper connection.

Wipe the charger contacts with a dry cloth or soft brush. Don’t use liquids.

If the problem continues or the charger shows error lights, it may need professional inspection. Bring your charger, cable, and hearing aids to your hearing care provider.

If only one hearing aid isn’t charging, try placing it in the other charging slot (if your charger isn’t side-specific). If the problem follows the hearing aid, the issue may be with the device. If the issue stays with the slot, the charger might need repair. Share your findings with your hearing care provider.

Additional troubleshooting tips

If the battery runs out, your hearing aids will turn off automatically. Charge them as soon as you can. If a rechargeable device is left uncharged for more than six months, it may suffer permanent damage due to deep battery discharge.

If you hear repeating tones, try charging your device for at least 30 minutes or insert a fresh battery. If the tones continue, schedule a visit with your hearing care provider. They can check for technical issues and help identify the type of tone and what it means. Also, make sure the buttons on your hearing aid aren’t stuck or being accidentally pressed.

This is likely a Bluetooth issue. Visit the Connectivity & Pairing section for detailed steps on how to troubleshoot, unpair, and reconnect your devices.
